Some listening clients don't show the stream metadata of Icecast sources, but do display the stream title and URL sent by ShoutCast. When reading the stream data using a web browser I can see that shoutcast is sending a bunch of data at the beginning, while in case of icecast, MPEG data begins immediately.

Can I configure Icecast to send this information? |

players won't accept the data stream if mpeg data is sent immediately. There needs to be at least a 200 OK type response like you have posted. In icecast we send the http style headers tht the source provides.

I compared both streams again and the ICY headers are indeed there. It appears that the reply from Icecast is more correct and it's the client's fault that it doesn't understand.
I wrongly assumed that icy values are part of the data and not the head. |
