this is where im at:
i have a dedicated server running icecast, and i am using Traktor DJ Studio to connect to it. I can run the icecast server, connect to it with my traktor dj, see the admin pages etc. icecast also shows my traktor dj at the source tab. So everything seems to be working but...

i cant seem to connect to the stream with any client (winamp WMP, VLC)

winamp can find the url, but gives the error "[error syncing to stream]".

what am i missing here? please help me out!

oh btw im using OGG Vorbis enconding.

That IP is of no use to us for checking and the mountpoint hasn't been specified

whats a mountpoint and what does it do?
and the problem isnt in the connection, im 100% sure that there is a connection between traktor DJ and the icecast server, and also the icecast server is reachable over the internet.

a mountpoint for identifying the stream. You may have 20 streams on there for all we know but you are saying you are having trouble with one. The only thing that we can say based on the little information given is that it could be down to the extension on the mountpoint name that some players require for codec selection but that is a well known issue so you have probably already accounted for that.

Here is what you need for an outside connect with icecast to any server. An ip address of the location your broadcasting from and not the routers ip address which usually leads out in 192.168.x.x.x .

In order to find out your public ip address you would have to google, "What's my ip address." Copy that down and list that in the host field. By doing anybody trying to connect to your icecast server can locate your source by the public ip address.

It's up to you know to config your router settings to allow port 8000 to travel to your icecast server which in this case 192.168.123.111 and that should be half your battle.
