I tried this all
but nothing happens
is there a special version of IceCast? ( I use Icecast 2.3.2 )
and I use NSVCAP 0.2 (from 2003)
it seems, that I can't connect to the server (no network traffic) |

you may have to increase the icecast log level to see about any failure attempts, nsvcap is a shoutcast source client so both ports need to be accessible.

NSV is working now (I don't know why)
but
sometimes the stream stopps (one hour, 10 minutes, everytime ather times)
is there a chance to an automatic restart of the stream?
which config do I need for VLC to use VLC as streaming client?
videocodec
audiocodec
so I can use the same config for IceCast I use for NSV? |

how can I see the NSV-stream in the browser?
the xpi on scvi.net is not working in Firefox 2.0
are there some other solution for IE and Firefox (such like an swf player) |

It is unlikely that the stop occurred from icecast unless you see an admin request doing so, other errors could occur though like a timeout but that is not an icecast issue. Again the logs should tell you that.

NSV is not supported by Firefox or Internet Explorer any more. _________________ Using NSV with Icecast : www.scvi.net/nsvice.htm

about using .nsv and browsers..
There IS a IE plugin for NSV, however, its VERY picky on what it will work on.. and yes, it will NOT work on any version of firefox!
example, only a SPECIFIC configuration and CODEC and/or audio CODEC will work with the plugin. i.e. "Vp6.3( build 255) with mp3/LAME v1.6 for audio"
so running VP6.2 and/or AAC/AACP is OUT!
In fact, I'll be planning to experiment more with this very issue soon enough.. for now, however, I supply a "stripped-down" version of winamp as a stand-alone app that my viewers can download and install to view my video stream. VLC will also view NSV, but I find VLC kinda messy..
you can look me up on www.warp-radio.com (when I have the website up) or you can usually find me on irc.warp-radio.com (which is up even if the website is down) catch me soon enough, and perhaps I can help you get this sorted.

UPDATE: (from the previous post)
Okay, I have something that works...
but, as mentioned above, only specific CODECs and configurations will function..
When I attempted to re-reserect this project, I found it most-difficult to find the pieces again.. it seems that someone (the RIAA?? AOL??) has gone out of their way to have the internet WIPED CLEAN of that nsv player for the web!
In fact, I was UN-successful in finding ANY modules or plugins for NSV for ANY browser at all!
Then, I remembered an old hard drive I had sitting in a box.. I plugged it in and DING! I had the pieces there!
So, I have worked on the thing and I have a working NSV player/viewer plugin for IE.. (it is IE8-compatable it seems)
Theres NOTHING I can get working for Firefox, Safari, Chrome, or ANY other browser I have come across so far.. seems ONLY IE and even that was with reservations (based on security settings per-browser).
But I have had ppl in my chatroom, using IE7 and IE8 being able to tune in and watch the image WITH sound.
this link demonstrates this...
(first, make sure the light is ON)
Webcam Status:
Then click this link using IE (doesn't work in ANY other browser)
WARP Radio Webcam Link
