|
|
I'm running 2.3.2-KH30. Using a fallback mount to play a file when the source encoder is disconnected. Per one of Karl's posts here I've inserted <limit-rate> </limit-rate> in the mount block.
The fallback file plays, but when a client that is playing the fallback file disconnects, icecast crashes. The last entry in the error log before the restart is an rwlock/unlock error.
Anyone seen this or similar? |

yes, and it should be fixed in more recent releases. 2.3.3-kh8 is the latest.

As always, thanks Karl!
Do all of the same cautions (encoding, sample rate, bitrate) still apply in the most recent releases? |

yes, while some players may handle certain changes like bitrate, you cannot rely on it. I've tried to make the detector in the KH build as stable as possible but you still need to have playback in the players.

Hello,
I just tried out to play a file as a fallback-mount. The limit rate seems to still be mandatory in 2.3.3_kh8.
Is it possible to fallback to an .aac-file? MP3 works, but .aac shows up "The file you requested could not be found" in browser, while it is placed in webroot as the working mp3. |

fallback to aac file works in the same way as mp3, players will not notice a difference as long as they are the same format. Yes the limit-rate is required for fallbalk files in cases where listeners connect to a missing stream. multiple cases are handled, fallback not playing when main stream is down, fallback playing at a known rate and files being sent at fast rates. Don't forget you can do
...
<mount-name>/64k-filles/*<mount-name>
<limit-rate>64k</limit-rate>
...

Thank you for your quick response.
Code: |
<mount-name>/64k-filles/*<mount-name>
<limit-rate>64k</limit-rate> |
Does this mean I can upload a folder to webroot and files will be played out of this one? Will it be alphabetical or can it be random? |

no, it's a pattern match for requests, it is not a playlist. If you want a playlist then use a source client or send a playlist to a player, the options I mentioned relate to specifying a rate for specific requests which includes fallback to files.

Okay, thanks. Sounds good to match several mountpoints, but I am using the same backup file all over. Works now. AAC just took some more seconds to go (lower bitrate) |
