I have put together a guide for NSV streaming with the Icecast media server.

Comments, additions or corrections would be greatly appreciated. _________________ Using NSV with Icecast : www.scvi.net/nsvice.htm

Question:
<listen-socket>
<port>8000</port>
</listen-socket>
<listen-socket>
<port>8000</port>
<shoutcast-compat>1</shoutcast-compat>
</listen-socket>
Shouldn't the second port be 8001 instead of 8000 twice?
regards

Why the difference in port numbers between those two configurations ? _________________ Using NSV with Icecast : www.scvi.net/nsvice.htm

Because nullsoft wanted it that way. The ports N and N+1 are required by those source clients. In my branch work I'm trying out another option for listen-socket, shoutcast-mount. Defining it makes that implicity define the port N+1 socket with the same options and allows for multiple shoutcast-style clients connect to one icecast as well.

So the first Listen-Socket configuration is for Icecast compliant source software and the second Listen-Socket configuration is for Shoutcast compliant source software ? _________________ Using NSV with Icecast : www.scvi.net/nsvice.htm

Icecast2 source clients only need the one port, and in this example, port 8000 would be ok for that. With shoutcast source clients the latter port is used for the sending of the stream while metadata is sent via the former port. The protocol for the latter port is not http, so is identified specially.

I have updated the page with those corrections and included additional information.
Thanks for the input. _________________ Using NSV with Icecast : www.scvi.net/nsvice.htm
