Can anyone suggest a good streaming solution for us? We have a collection of about 100,000 tracks (and growing) that we play from randomly. We stream in Ogg (56kbps) and Mp3 (24kbps) formats. WinAmp + Oddcast crapped out for us a couple months ago (Winamp would crash and need to be reinstalled regularly). I then tried Foobar + Oddcast, but had problems with that where the interface would freeze after sveral hours of streaming. Most recently I have tried SAM Broadcaster 3.5. It too is freezing about every 12 hours and after weeks of going back and forth with tech support we're coming up empty.
We are open to new ideas, encoders etc ..... just need something stable that can handle the workload.
We stream remotely to an Icecast server at another location.
We are a 3.2GHz Pentium 4 Windows Pro machine with 1GB memory. We are using the latest version of Icecast 2 for windows.
Thanks! |

you may wish not to live encode anymore and stream from static files.
ices is pretty stable with this i think.
you'll get a lower cpu usage (no reencoding) and a smoother operation (no shitty windows players like winamp and source plugins).
the bad thing is that you'll need to reencode all your tracks to the selected format first |
