Hi have a strange request this time that first needs some explanation:
in my experiment I'm using icecast to stream audio on an house LAN thus avoiding using audio mixers and wires/rf transmitters to send audio.
So I have 3 clients and a server, everything is working great except for the fact that even limiting the buffer to the minimum the clients (I'm using Winamp) lose a bit of synch and without buffering the clients always lose the first couple of seconds of the first track (when the stream starts or when there's a manual change of the playing track).
I was wondering if there coul be a method of synch of the buffers and/or:
1) chance to set the start point of the stream (with zero buffer the client's play is in advanced to the server of a second or two)
2) option to somehow "flush" the old buffer when new stream is received
This might be a problem of the client though, I'm not too skilled in this to be sure of what I'm saying, so please excuse me if I wrote bulls..ts
Thanks for reading, have a good day! |

If you are looking for perfect sync on playback between the 3 players on different machines then you'll have to ask the winamp people. Icecast has no control over what the players do with the data stream, they may have a large prebuffer to stall the start time.
