|
|
Hi folks,
So I installed icecast 2.3 along with ices 0.4 on Fedora Core 4. Everything works fine with this setup. I then tried to follow the example for listener authentication given in the docs section of this web site. Once I start icecast I go to the admin section, but I do not see the mountpoint listed that I defined in the icecast.xml file. Here is the excerpt from my xml file concerning the mount information:
<mount>
<mount-name>/example.ogg</mount-name>
<authentication type="htpasswd">
<option name="/usr/local/share/icecast/password" value="myauth"/>
<option name="allow_duplicate_users" value="0"/>
</authentication>
</mount>
As you can see this is plain vanilla. Yet, I do not see the mount point listed in the admin section and t here are no error messages in the error.log file. I also tried changing the mount name around to things like example.m3u but that didn't do the trick either. Is there something about the combincation of icecast 2.3 and ices0 that prevents this from working? Any help on how to configure the listener authentication would be very much appreciated.
TIA,
Mitch |

I think you'll find that it's
<option name="filename" value="/usr/local/share/icecast/password" />
or whatever the actual filename is.

HI Karl,
Thanks for pointing this one out. I feel kinda sheepish. I guess I misunderstood the example. I took the <option name="filename" ... /> to actually mean that you are to enter your filename in that space and not that this is the literal value that stays right there.
As soon as I changed that line to what you suggested it worked like a charm. Thanks for your help. This must have been the fastest response I have ever seen on a forum. Thanks again.
