hi
sorry for my english...i am german.
my problem:
i have icecast(newest) and ices(newest) on my server.(debian)
and now, i wish, that the icecast or the ices do this ->
an existing public-24h-stream(shoutcast) from a other server transcoding(?) from 128 kbs to modem-quality... (65 kbs?)
i have tested(with the relay-feature from icecast, but i cant change the quality), read faq...docs on icecast.org...but i dont find things, that are for my problem. (sorry for my english*g*)
anybody have a example-configfile (xml) for ices, if ices can this...
or a exampleconfig for icecast ?
or a other way
thx for help |

We obviously can't give specifics as we know nothing about your setup but icecast has never been responsible for encoding streams, that has always been a job for a source client. Whether ices is suitable for your requirements we don't know but both versions do allow for encoding their input into 1 or more streams which may be configured with different quality settings.
Beside other source clients there is also streamtranscoder which can take an existing stream, transcode it and sends it to a server for listeners to connect on.
