I have an implementation using ssl in my branch work, you need to specify a socket with <ssl> and it should currently work for all types of clients. It may be more limited to certain clients in the future but nothing has been decided yet.

karl,
We are wanting to impliment SSL as well.
1. Does your post mean that the current build of icecast will do ssl?
2. If so, do we simply configure icecast to stream over an ssl port?
This issue arises out of concern for the plain-text transmission of username:password over the internet.
Thanks,

The current trunk/release doesn't although it's not far off from having it, but my branch does. check either svn or tarball at http://mediacast1.com/~karl
just define a <listen-socket> with an <ssl> set to 1, add a certificate and start icecast.
