If the player does not ask for the metadata inserts then it will not get any, the inserts break the mp3/aac frame layout so are only added if requested by the player.

Is there an easy setup if someone did a live show (like dj) to only have the stream enabled when he live?
i was thinking if the settings are already static, and he goes live he just has to double c ... |

Use a hosting provider that runs the server for you (either icecast specific or dedicated hosting). Domestic connections are not going to be suitable for many listeners.
