Hi!
I'm in great confusion .
I want to set up mpd + pitchfork. As I understand I also need icecast in order to do this correctly. BUT I'm having a hard time configuring icecast. I've tried everything but when I point my browser to mydomain:8000 then it keeps on telling me that "Could not parse XSLT file".
Could anyone please give me an example of his icecast.xml that would probably work in this case? Or just any hints
I'm running Openbsd-4.2 with php5 ( http://pihus.pri.ee/php/info.php ).
Pitchfork itself is located here: http://pihus.pri.ee/pitchfork/
edit: I've tryied different icecast.xml configs and sometimes it also says "The file you requested could not be found".. |

Check your log files. with a url like the specified one, what will happen is the alias (in the xml) will map / to /status.xsl and then icecast will check for that file in webroot. If the file cannot be read for whatever reason then you'll get the reply as you have indicated. Knowing the correct xml is only part of the answer, it also depends on where you have installed things.

Right now it say's "The file you requested could not be found".
error.log doesn't seem to contain anything suspicious:
| Code: |
[2008-01-15 19:15:05] INFO main/main Icecast 2.3.1 server started
[2008-01-15 19:15:05] INFO fserve/fserv_thread_function file serving thread started
[2008-01-15 19:15:05] INFO yp/yp_update_thread YP update thread started
[2008-01-15 19:15:05] INFO auth/auth_run_thread Authentication thread started |
My current icecast.xml is as follows:
| Code: |
<icecast>
<limits>
<sources>2</sources>
</limits>
<authentication>
<source-password>hackme</source-password>
<admin-user>admin</admin-user>
<admin-password>hackme</admin-password>
</authentication>
<shoutcast-mount>/stream</shoutcast-mount>
<hostname>localhost</hostname>
<port>8000</port>
</listen-socket>
<listen-socket>
<port>8001</port>
<shoutcast-compat>1</shoutcast-compat>
</listen-socket>
<fileserve>1</fileserve>
<paths>
<logdir>/var/log/icecast</logdir>
<webroot>/usr/local/share/icecast/web</webroot>
<adminroot>/usr/local/share/icecast/admin</adminroot>
</paths>
<logging>
<accesslog>access.log</accesslog>
<errorlog>error.log</errorlog>
<loglevel>3</loglevel>
</logging>
<security>
<chroot>0</chroot>
</security>
</icecast> |
I think I should also mention that I had to create /usr/local/share/icecast directory by myself, so that they're actually empty (as well as webroot's and adminroot's directory). Is it correct? |

Nevermind, I finally got it working!
One of the problem really was that those directories were empty, so I had to copy the contents of /usr/ports/net/icecast/w-icecast-2.3.1p1/icecast-2.3.1/ to /usr/local/share/icecast
It seems that when installing on OpenBSD and from porttree, then everything might not go exactly like on linux. |

If you find out why the install failed then by all means let us know, I've never heard of the webroot/adminroot files not installing via make install.
