I have been able to get icecast2 working with the xmms2 ices plugin. First, do you have the icecast2 server running properly? I loosely followed the instructions http://www.icecast.org/docs/icecast-2.3.1/icecast2_basicsetup.html. The major difference is I put all the icecast configuration files (/admin icecast.xml /log /web) in ~/.icecast. I was having trouble with permissions in the default install directory.
Once you have the server running you need to edit the xmms2.conf file. Look for the "ices" section. Be careful to make sure that the password and user match those in the icecast.xml file. I'd also suggest setting public to 1. Save the updated configuration and then set the output plugin to ices with
Code: |
xmms2 config output.plugin ices |
Load up a playlist and start playing using the cli. You should be able to get the stream by pointing a browser to http://host:port/mount.ogg.m3u. Host, port and mount are values you specify in the xmms2.conf file. Usually something like http://192.168.1.1:8000/stream.ogg.m3u.
This "worked" for me. I think I have some trouble on my client end. The icecast server seems to run fine, it shows the proper file information on the /admin/stats.xml page but my client only loads one song into the buffer then repeats it.
Hopefully you can make some headway. Post back if you get things working any better.
I also looked at this page though it wasn't much help.

Just as an update, the problems I was having with playback stopping with new songs was all on the client side. I downloaded winamp and have been streaming for 2+ hrs with no interruptions. |
