Icecast Streaming Media Server

Hai,
When i connect my player, it plays ok for about 10 seconds and then it starts buffering, plays a second and than buffer..on and on.

I think i've isolated the problem to ices becaus i tried several players, winamp, vlc, mediaplayer. I also tried different client-pc's.
I,ve tried it with icecast on a windows pc, no difference...so that only leaves ices i guess...
It all should work well because it all takes place on my local network. I play mp3 files which are on the same server. Network between server and client works well.
I've tried to tune the icecast parameters and i tried a minimal config..all makes no difference.
The vmware host is'nt busy, its a dual core with lots of mem..tried to switch of all the other vm's...no difference.
Tried reencode off/on, crossfade off/on...

I'm running out of options to try...please help!

This is my situation:
icecast 2.3.1 on Centos5 (virtual machine on vmware server)
lame 3.97 (also tried 3.96)
libshout 2.2
ices 0.4 (also tried 0.3)

ices 0.3 generally works well enough to not have many complaints, but checkthe CPU usage and error messages from ices just in case it's having problems with parsing the mp3s. Whether the virtual server is having an interaction is hard to say.

The cpu is idle for 90%. I'm very suspicious towards vmware now so i'm currently setting up a 'normal' installation to make sure vmware isn't the problem.

Well, VMware is the one to blame. I installed everything on a little pc and it works fine. If anyone can think of some kind of workaround to get it working on a vmware server that would be nice!
