Hey!
I have problem - My stereo signal from:
http://66.79.189.215:7777/live.ogg (48kbps-44,1 kHz) is transcoding to mono:
http://66.79.189.215:7888/live.ogg (30 kbs-22,05 kHz)
but after same hours streamcoder is dead and in the log is:
11/12/05 22:08:55 Error(transcurl.cpp:419): Hey, but circular buffer is full...perhaps your machine isn't fast enough...
But server is fast - why I can't use this metod to creating second stream? Where is mistake? Signal stereo is ok all time. |

I also used StreamTranscoder for a long time with mono streams but I had the same problems.
At the current version Oddsock recommends using a script running in an infinite loop to keep StreamTranscoder working.
This is ok, but not fine because I also experienced hangs - the StreamTranscoder source disconnects but is still running as client.
Killing the client then helped - so the StreamTranscoder died completely and was restartet by the infinite loop.
Unfortunately I had this problems nearly every day.
One should rewrite it, maybe only by using some code off ogg123 to play Ogg streams, liblame to encode and libshout for the source.
I hacked something together, but this is not perfect as it uses ogg123 and lame in a pipe to read the mp3 stream from stdin instead of including the necessary parts of code directly in the software.
I will not maintain this code anymore as it was just a hack and I now use multiple streams directly from the original source (darkice).
Greets,

I had these same types of problems transcoding my ogg stream to mp3. I don't know the exact reasons, but since upgrading to icecast 2.3.0 (first the rc's and now the release) the problems are gone. streamtranscoder runs for weeks without error. I have a friend who experienced the same issues and found the same results from upgrading to 2.3 If you're using 2.2.. well definately try 2.3.. I do use the script included in the distribution of streamTranscoder because it helps the mp3 stream come online quickly if I have to restart the source ogg stream for any reason, but I have not seen a case where it was needed outside of that.
