I am developing a solution for transmitting audio using and Icecast implementation. The solution is heavily dependent upon audio not getting out of sync with the source. Is there a way I can ensure that my media player continues to play at the same rate as the streaming client so that there will not be a overflow/underflow issue with the stream (one second of actual time is the desired boundary)? Is this built into the MP3/OGG stream? Also, how are differences in processor clocks managed by the streaming client/listener client?

FYI - This solution is being developed on a closed network and throughput is not a primary concern.

Thanks
