Icecast Streaming Media Server

Hi
I install icecast on Fedora 9. It is running:

[root@localhost /]# /etc/init.d/icecast status
icecast (pid 2030) is running...

Now I can not access on http://localhost:8000
I check port (during icecast runs) with netstat -atpn and there was not on this port.

Did you check whether icecast is actually running (ps aux | grep icecast). It could be that the startup script is incorrectly assuming icecast is running when it is not.

I am having the exact same problem. The icecast process is running, but it is not actually opening the port. I even compiled it from source and the same thing is happening. I'm running fedora 9, but I cannot figure out what is causing it.

nmap shows nothing, netstat shows nothing, and the only thing in my logs is this:

Interesting, when I compile the kh branches it works, but the regular releases do not.

With 2.3.1, if the port bind fails then icecast stops, so it must be on there unless there is some weird bug. Obviously icecast will fail if something else is already listening but if the expected port is not showing up in netstat at all then I can't explain it without a more detailed investigation.

I think is ok?!

You don't get those messages when you run the program directly, those are from the script.

the -b is for background which may be what the script is doing. without -b the prompt won't return until the program exits. I guess you are starting as root.

you are probably not using the proper link try /admin.html or even /admin/stats.xsl if you are using /admin/ then you get a default xml page.
