Icecast Streaming Media Server

I've used Icecast/Ices succesfully in the past. I recently decided to upgrade a machine I use for Icecast streaming from Fedora 7 to Fedora 9. This is the first time I've been forced to use PulseAudio.

From what I'm reading, the implementation should be transparent.

However, I can't seem to be able to tell PulseAudio to grab input from "Line-In" on my soundcard. It seems to only want to grab PCM input. Using something like "alsamixer" pretty much yields the same.

My only input devices are:

Monitor Source of ALSA PCM on front:0 (ADC Capture/Standard PCM Playback) via DMA

-and-

ALSA PCM on hw:0 (ADC Capture/Standard PCM Playback) via DMA

...neither of which allow me to produce the output I desire. Has anyone used Icecast with PulseAudio, and can tell me what I'm overlooking?

I'm trying to read up on PulseAudio as well, but it's difficult to know if it's a change in configuration I should make for Icecast, an Alsa compatibility issue, or PulseAudio itself.

I have a similar problem. I upgraded from Fedora 6 -> Fedora 8.

The application I've developed worked on Fedora 6 just fine. Ices was successfully creating a source stream for icecast of a mix of the microphone(alsa) and a speech synthesizer (oss, but I imagine it uses the alsa-oss compat). I found that using padsp <tts-engine> <tts params> got it working just fine, but it seems a bit of a hack. Perhaps there's some way of configuring the .asoundrc to deal with oss-compat stuff.
