Hey everyone,

I have been using icecast for several years now streaming audio as a live radio station. Now Iīd like to have an on-demand videostream with like 5 video files.

I have tried using ices but it wouldnīt work.

What do I have exactly to do to stream a video (like AVI or MPG) to a mountpoint on-demand on a webserver?

Thank you in advance!

I don't think avi will work for streaming, mpg may do but I haven't tried. On demand content is a more limited option for icecast, not impossible to do but you would need to use a source client to feed the content to icecast at the playback rate.

In the kh tree I'd use the auth url listener_add handle to kick off the source client and send back a header to redirect the client to another mountpoint or even server.

I am using one of your branches, but I already have a problem with getting the video to the icecast on the server without a sending computer. I used ices to stream audio, is it possible to send some video with it? Like mpg or something?

not with ices, libshout can be built to regulate the speed of theora, so the likes of ezstream and oggfwd can be used to send content. mpg is different as that has patent concerns but in theory something like vlc could be used with that.

thank you so far, karl. I installed ezstream but get after starting.

ezstream: Streaming ``hochzeit''
sh: ffmpeg2theora: command not found

I installed ffmpeg and theora and can see that the mountpoint has been started an a video is streaming. I cannot the video, but winamp scales to the bigger video size.

Something is missing. Can you help me out again? Thank you in advance.

sh: ffmpeg2theora: command not found

would tend to indicate that ffmpeg2theora is not installed or cannot be found in the path
