symbolic links in webroot?

The dir /usr/share/icecast/web is set as my <webroot> dir and I really don't have enough space on my /usr partition anymore so I'm wondering if I can just put symbolic links in this directory to a partition w/ more space.

I wanted to do that rather than reset the webroot dir in the icecast.xml because I use emerge on gentoo and it always installs and updates icecast in this dir and I didn't want to complicate my updates with emerge anymore than it already is. I can just leave it here, and keep it clean in this install dir, and store all my mp3's in another partition.

Is that a good idea?
