I have icecast 2.1 installed on my linux box and would like to know if
icecast can stream audio from a cd? Maybe if I mount the cd and make it
a mountpoint or something? Still new to all this, but I think that's
the question I want.

Icecast is the server, you need an encoder to create the stream initially which then sends to icecast for distribution to listeners. Streaming a CD is easy enough, get a suitable source client that reads from the sound card (eg ices 2) and set your mixer to capture from CD. you can control the CD with whatever you want and ices will capture the played audio, encode it and then sends it to icecast.
