I am running Fedora 9 and Icecast2
I ahve setup the icecast.xml file to use my external ip address and port 8000. I opened the port in my firewall and since I am on a network I forwarded all connections to port 8000 to the linux computer. I have also disabled selinux. When I try to go to http://myip:8000/admin/stats.xml my browser gives me a connection error. Ice cast seems to start ok and there arent any problems in the error log. There is no other program using port 8000 on the linux computer. I tried uncommenting the bind ip and inserting my ip but icecast threw cannot connect to port errors and wouldnt start. I have the ip address in the hostname directive. I am out of ideas. Can any of you help?

I fixed it.. In case anyone else has this problem netsat -tanp showed me that icecast is listening to a differet port than 8000. I dont really know why but whatever doesnt really matter what port it listens to to me

I lied. Icecast keeps switching ports everytime i restart it to a random port. This is a proble cuz of the firewall and my router settings. Any reason why it wouldnt read the port I gave it in the icecast.xml?

This is a known issue with a build from fedora. I haven't heard of the reason for this yet but 2.3.1 has worked on previous versions and a 2.3.2 build does work on F9

I don't know what you want us to do. The problem you are having is something on the fedora distribution. You should talk to them about it or you can build the source that we ship.

2.3.2 has been out now for over 6 months, so it should be in the repositories by now.
