|
|
Hi!
Is there any method to reload Ices without kicking off the current listeners?
There's a need to play jingles every hour at 00 (sharp) minutes, so we put reload task in system crontab file. After the jingle Ices resumes with the playlist.
How to do that without disconnect? _________________ Ranez.RU |

The crontab sets up the playlist to play the jingle then signals the process to switch to the next track. then sleep for a few seconds then switch the original playlist back. (when the next track is selected the modification time is checked on the playlist, so use that)

Thanks for your reply.
That's not a problem to manage the playlist, it's stored in MySQL DB.
We use perl script to select tracks from the base.
The problem is to start a jingle at 00 minutes sharp, because the length of the track playing before it can differ. So it doesn't mean, that the song will end at 00 minutes, it can play till 01-05 minutes. So we need to stop streaming and resume it with jingle. It's very important to play jingle at exactly time.
In other words, we need stop plaing from one playlist at any time and resume it with another one, without kicking off the listeners.
If Ices can not do that, what should we use on FreeBSD box? _________________ Ranez.RU |

check the documentation for ices to see if there is a signal you cans send to trigger a next track, that next track could then be a jingle.

Sorry...
Found in man ices0:
| Code: |
SIGNAL HANDLING
Ices handles the following signals specially:
SIGINT Causes ices to perform a clean shutdown.
SIGHUP Causes ices to close and reopen the log file and the playlist.
It will also reload and restart the playlist script if you're
using one.
SIGUSR1
Causes ices to skip to the next track in the playlist
immediately. |
Thanks, Karl for your help! _________________ Ranez.RU |
