|

Hi,
I found a bug with Icecast 2.3.0 and URL authentication.
When a listener is connecting, Icecast doesn't call the url. Here is my authentication config:
<authentication type="url">
<option name="listener_add" value="<my domain name>/authentication.php" />
<option name="username" value="user" />
<option name="password" value="pass" />
<option name="auth_header" value="icecast-auth-user: 1" />
<option name="timelimit_header" value="icecast-auth-timelimit:" />
<option name="allow_duplicate_users" value="0" />
</authentication>
This message appears in error.log:
[2005-12-17 11:42:17] INFO auth/add_client adding client for authentication
[2005-12-17 11:42:17] INFO auth_url/url_add_client client auth (<my domain name>/authentication.php) failed with ""
When I verify my http server log, I see that Icecast did not send the query.
This bug is intermittent. Normally it works but this issue can appear for a couple of hours in a row. After that period, the URL authentication is back to normal.
Does somebody knows how to bypass that?
Thanks!

can you try with 2.3.1, there were a couple of changes with url auth, but no configuration changes are needed.

I upgraded to 2.3.1 three weeks ago. The bug is back again.
Last week-end, I restarted Icecast and the normal anthentication process was back. Today (the bug was back again), I did it the same way but it doesn't work.
For now, I've stopped the URL authentication process and I've hidden the stream. |

That message indicates that authentication failed and also no error message was sent back to indicate a problem. Without more info it's hard to debug this but a libcurl request has just being completed at the time of the failure message, so there should of been some access to your auth server.

i know this thread is over a year old but I am also having the very same problem here. icecast is completely disregarding my instruction to run the request by my php script.
nothing in the access or error logs to suggest that it has tried
really need it to run it past the php
thanks

Can you determine which libcurl version you are running with. The behaviour described has not been reported so my guess is that there is some libcurl version issue. If you want you can try my latest branch which has an updated auth url and works with the latest libcurl.

keep an eye on it for the problem occurring again. The problem described has only been mentioned here, so while it could be a bug in 2.3.1 which affects libcurl, it could still be an issue with libcurl and if so even the update could be affected.
