WinXP Professional
Winamp 5.12
Icecast2 v2.3.1
Oddcast DSP v2
I just started fiddling around with this, and I've run into a few things that I'm wondering about.
The global statistics on my Icecast2 is all just showing 0 even if I've got source and listeners connected. The admin .xsl pages show all updated statistics though. Anyone got an idea what might be wrong? It worked fine to begin with, but suddenly it stopped showing any updated info in the server program interface.
A few more questions while I'm at it:
1. LAME. I downloaded the lame.exe and lame_enc.dll and put them in my Windows\System32 folder on the server. My clients still won't start streaming when I choose LAME instead of OGG in Oddcast. On the web pages I've searched for solutions, it says that I need to "install" LAME etc. Have I missed something here? Isn't it enough to put them in the System32 folder? Or is it required to do this on the client machines as well?
What is the practical difference between OGG and LAME anyways? Better quality for less bandwidth or?
2. Changing the quality setting for OGG anywhere from 0 to 10 doesn't really seem to make a difference in the audio quality, but the kb/s increase drastically. I've set it to 0 because of this... Anyone got some input on this? |

Check the stats on the web pages, eg /status.xsl and/or /admin/stats.xsl, they should update without any problem. I can't comment on the win32 aspects.
If the vorbis quality is good enough for you at quality 0 then stick with it, for the latest aotuv code (shipped with latest oddcast I think) then quality can go down to -2.
