Hello, i'm i trying to install mixplayd but i've not got success to start it.
I've tried to install in 2 servers Freebsd 4.7 and the result is the same.
I got this error:
mixplayd version 0.60 (2004/06/04) by Siegfried Wagner
no port specified, using default 8888.
bind: failed to bind to port 8888: Can't assign requested address.
error: no server created, aborting.
Do you have any idea what this problem? I've checked my network configuration, but my server is running ok.
Anyone could help me?
There exists another crossfading alternative to ices2+ogg vorbis?
Thanks a lot and have a happy new year! |

you should really ask the mixplayd folks rather than here, but those messages would tend to indicate a server already running type thing, it may get started automatically.

one way to crossfade is by using say xmms to handle the audio files with crossfading, playing to the soundcard, then use ices2 to capture the audio for encoding and sending to icecast.

I'm just streaming .ogg files stored on server, so i cant use soundcard. If i couldnt find any way to do it, i will need to strem with some source player to windows OS .
Thanks

i'm running ices2 that until where i know it does not support crossfading.
I need ices2 because i'm playing .ogg files.
I've tried to run the mixplayd but it's does not work on Freebsd 4.7.
Anyone has another solution to crossfading?
Thanks

if you have a sound device then you could get ices to capture playback for other apps that could do the crossfading like xmms.
