I am telnet'd into the server at:

telnet IP 8000

Code:

rec9140@rec9140-quad-desktop ~ $ telnet IP 8000
Trying IP...
Connected to IP.
Escape character is '^]'.
ADMIN password

Connection closed by foreign host.
rec9140@rec9140-quad-desktop ~ $

I login put the ADMIN password hit enter twice and get disconnected.

Icecast 2.3.2 on CentOS 5.4, web min works fine, but I would like to use the telnet admin as well.

Thanks

There is no telnet connection, if there is documentation indicating that there is then that needs to be changed. What would you need a telnet type access for?

"Connecting the admin
To access the admin console, telnet to your icecast server (port 8000 by default). You can use the default telnet client, but if you're planning on doing any serious work, I suggest you use a more sophisticated client such as TinyFugue. With TF you can get color highlighting and command line editing.
When you connect, nothing will be printed, no prompt, nothing. Then you type the following:
'ADMIN [admin password]' followed by two newlines (press enter twice). Substitute the [admin password] for the admin password you've set in icecast.conf or with a command line parameter to icecast."

There are other discussions on doing this, where it works and then prints OK-> thus allowing the commands listed to be used.

You have failed to read the section on the versions, this relates to version 1 which is no longer supported here. If there is some command that the telnet access provided which icecast2 does not then by all means raise it.
