Hello Guys,

I am running a webradio station for a few years now and want to change a couple of things. First of all, the current situation is as follows;

Radio server has a playlist with MP3s located on the harddrive. Ices is configured to stream a 192kbps stream to stream1, and re-encodes the stream to 96kbps to stream2. This means that the server has double traffic (to stream1 at 192kbps, and to stream2 at 96kbps).

What I would like to do is let the radio server, where all the MP3s are stored, just stream at 192kbps to stream1. On stream1 i want to install some kind of re-encoder which captures the stream and sents it on 96kbps to stream2.

This causes the main server to have less traffic and it doesnt have to do any re-encoding which is usefull for the CPU usage, altough its just a little percentage.

Does any1 know with what kind of software I would be able to accomplish this? I tried searching for a couple of freeware solutions, but I am not sure (at least couldn't find it) if iceS or Icecast is able to do this out of the box. Windows or Linux, or even Mac is no problem.

Many thanks in advance! (Dont mind the typos)

Hello, I would also like to do similar thing.
I have a 128k stream I would like to re-encode into 2 seperate streams. 1 for high quality users 128k and one for people with less bandwidth 64k. I would like the re-encoding to take place inbetween my streaming software (simplecast) and the icecast server. Or it could pick up the 128k stream outside of Icecast & re-encode it to 64k there. Im not sure how it works and I have also searched for some software to do it with no luck.
Does anyone know where this re-encoding software is? I was sure I had seen a link for it on here but I cant find it now.
Thanks
