Hi;
I just upgraded to the current version of Icecast for Windows.
Previously I was able to automate updating the metadata by passing information to the metadata.xsl file like this:
http://[username]:[password]@127.0.0.1:8000/admin/metadata.xls?mount=/[mountname]...etc...etc.

It no longer works with the current version... any ideas how I can get this to work?
Thanks,
Fred

Besides the obviously wrong xls extension, can you tell us what it is doing, and check the error log for messages as well. Also which username are you using, admin?. Are other pages accessible with this url style of auth, IIRC IE has stopped that style of auth.

karl.

Yes, that's a type on my part for the xls vs. xsl extension... I try to log in as the user admin... the following is what's in the log file...

127.0.0.1 - - [15/Jan/2006:20:52:46 -0500] "GET /admin/metadata.xsl HTTP/1.1" 400 83 "-" "Microsoft URL Control - 6.01.9782" 0
127.0.0.1 - - [15/Jan/2006:20:52:46 -0500] "GET /admin/metadata.xsl HTTP/1.1" 400 83 "-" "Microsoft URL Control - 6.01.9782" 0
127.0.0.1 - - [15/Jan/2006:20:52:46 -0500] "GET /admin/metadata.xsl HTTP/1.1" 200 1804 "-" "Microsoft URL Control - 6.01.9782" 0
127.0.0.1 - - [15/Jan/2006:20:52:47 -0500] "GET /admin/metadata.xsl HTTP/1.1" 400 83 "-" "Microsoft URL Control - 6.01.9782" 1

However, I can log in manually just fine and modify the meta data...

If this is no longer supported, what's the correct way to automate meta data updates from another application?

Thanks,
Fred

Don't use IE and/or the IE activeX control. This is a problem with IE, not icecast..

I have MSIE 6.0.2800 on Windows 2000 professional, and http://user:pass@server etc works fine, at least for Icecast server.
Tested for Win32 and GNU/Linux versions of Icecast 2.3.1.
Not using ActiveX.
