Hello, I am fairly new to linux and icecast I got the icecast server running but I am trying to connect a live audio feed to ice cast and I get the following error:
[root@webcaster /]# ices usr/local/etc/ices.xml
Logfile opened
Could not find a valid playlist file.
Ices Exiting...
[root@webcaster /]#
Do I need a playlist if I am streaming live audio? I got the XML file as an example online it is as follows:
<?xml version="1.0"?>
<ices>
<background>0</background>
<logpath>/var/log/icecast</logpath>
<logfile>ices.log</logfile>
<loglevel>4</loglevel>
<consolelog>0</consolelog>
<stream>
<metadata>
<name>Test Stream</name>
<genre>music</genre>
<description>A test stream</description>
<url>http://icecast.mydomain.com</url>
</metadata>
<input>
<module>oss</module>
<param name="rate">44100</param>
<param name="channels">2</param>
<param name="device">/dev/dsp</param>
<param name="metadata">0</param>
<param name="metadatafilename">live</param>
</input>
<instance>
<hostname>localhost</hostname>
<port>8000</port>
<password>streamme</password>
<mount>/highband.m3u</mount>
<yp>0</yp>
<reconnectdelay>2</reconnectdelay>
<reconnectattempts>5</reconnectattempts>
<maxqueuelength>80</maxqueuelength>
<encode>
<quality>2</quality>
<nominal-bitrate>96000</nominal-bitrate>
<samplerate>44100</samplerate>
<channels>2</channels>
</encode>
</instance>
</stream>
</ices>
Thanks in advance for any help you can provide. |

Hello,
I couldn't get started my ices 0.3 for on-demand audio mp3, I could handle this error of yours... try this:
ices -c usr/local/etc/ices.xml
Now I am facing an error like this:
---
Error during send: Mount failed on http://radio.mysite.com.br:9000/, error: Socket error
---
If you or another else coudl help me... I will apreciate that.

That is an ices 2 xml file (poorly configured), I'm not surprised ices 0.x doesn't work with it. ices 0.x does not do live streaming.

For live mp3 streaming you need liveice or darkice. |
