I have a very noob question regarding icecast and its dependencies.
Running FreeBSD: If I rebuild or update ports / dependencies that icecast was built against, do I need to rebuild and reinstall icecast? If so, should I make deinstall and then rebuild, or can I simply ./configure and make install icecast again? |

Usually if you update shared libraries then you do not need to rebuild, just restart icecast. However If the update was significant or you are using static libs then you will probably need to re-run configure and re-install the package

Thanks, Karl! That was the answer I was hoping for!
I'm preparing to update Curl, Libxlst and Libxlm.
I'll start with just a restart - if anything seems off I'll go ahead and rebuild/reinstall. |
