Icecast Streaming Media Server

Hey ,o.k. I know icecast1 isn’t support anymore but maybe someone can help me.
At the moment I am running icecast with shout
The icecast server starts up fine with no errors but as soon as I run shout I get bad password.

I have read trough the docs and its says you have to use a crypted password so I have done the following:

Mkpasswd
Password: hackme
O2gCsA1aW9Oja

Then I have used that password in both config files as show below :
Icecast.conf

Encoder_password O2gCsA1aW9Oja #hackme
Admin_password O2gCsA1aW9Oja #hackme
Oper_password O2gCsA1aW9Oja #hackme

Shout.conf
Server_name 10.0.0.1
Port 8000
Password O2gCsA1aW9Oja
Mount test

Not sure what I am doing wrong any help would be appreciated

i have exactly the same problem, i used makepasswd to create a password and used it in the icecast.conf and the shout.conf. but everytime i tried to start shout, i got this "bad password" error...

and what newer versions do you mean? icecast2 seems to be totally different to me...

icecast 1.x is no longer supported and has been superseded by 2.x
it really is alot better and contains more features

check it out sometime.
