Hi,
How is it possible to get other metadata like 'album' and 'cover art' ?
There's only 'artist' and 'title'.
Is it possible with Icecast? Is it possible with something else ?
Thanks,

Source clients don't send any of that info, so you would have to get the info externally.
I know LastFM has http://www.last.fm/api/show/track.getInfo and Amazon has an API as well - Google will help. |

The icy metadata is not that well defined, StreamTitle is the only one used, StreamUrl is another possibility but in theory other information could be added but things like album art is not defined.

OK thanks.
But,
how can I made a webradio with my own cover art, album name, file path, etc. ?
What tools do I need?

depends on what you want to go for. Obviously opus or vorbis can be used where metadata is rather flexible but not as common, FLV wrapping could be used which has flexability and is best used with flash based players but you need to get that player. ICY is limited but is supported by most players but not native flash.

I changed 'artist' - 'title' to a big string with 'artist' 'title' 'album' 'year' 'filepath'.
And I look into filepath to read my .jpg there.
Is this ok or ridiculous?

you can encode the string as you want but players would need to be aware if how to decode it or else it will look a bit odd on the display.

hi
one of the things I have done, is to insert the meta data after the encoder (the encoder I use doesn't support meta) I did this with some TCL code amd use the admin title change override in icecast to achieve this.
I'm also getting ready to experiment with a "album art server" where I'll serve album art to the website and some players that support it (such as the Logitech squeezebox, for example) but this is still in its early development stages.
but, it is possible, though, like Karl said, you'll need some "external" help/influnces
I hope this helps and good luck! _________________ -DjZ-

Hi,
Can you please explain more what you mean by 'admin title change override '? |
