i was reading the following post from awhile back ago:
http://icecast.imux.net/viewtopic.php?t=7774&sid=5058fc9fe82097869f5a8a191993be6c

In doing a 'search' for icecast.xml I found 3 files I edited all 3 using the alias tag, however it didnt work.

What icecast.xml file needs edited to "globally" get the /admin/stats.xsl to direct the admin link to that?

I also stopped and restarted the stream(s) to check, however that didnt fix it either.

How do I get that "re-direct"?

I edited the following files:

Code:

/usr/local/icecast/etc/icecast.xml
/usr/local/etc/icecast.xml
/usr/local/icecast-2.3.3-kh9/examples/icecast.xml

(I know the one is just an example file, but I figure I would try and edit it anyway "just in case". lol

the xml to edit is the one supplied to the icecast in question, check your process listing to see which is referenced if you do not know. As for the alias entry, use something like

<alias source="/admin/" dest="/admin/stats.xsl" />

much like / maps to /status.xsl or /index.html

Is there not something you can edit that works globally?

Or does one need to edit each individual account?

icecast only reads one file, whether that file refers to some global settings is up to the admin/packager but it is unlikely you have that. I don't know how many xml files you have or to what extent your changes need to be but you could edit them from a find eg

vi `find /home -name icecast.xml`

If these files are automatically generated then the changes could get overwritten, so you really need to find out.

Its with in centova cast. That's why I asked about globally. I did do a search which is what I showed in my first post. That was all that came up. There is no icecast.xml with in the clients folders.

centovacast generates those files, and has been know to break local changes if you use some settings like listener auth. Those xml files sit under the vhosts / client direcotory (in the etc subdirectory specifically). IIRC CC use a set of skeleton file to provide the basics, so you could change that as those should have the alias. The only other alternative is have a modified binary to hardcode an alias.
