Hi there,
is there any possibility in Icecast 2.4.0 to update the internal cache of icecast, if a intro-file is updated? I do not want to HUP the icecast every time i have to update the intro-file
Kind regards

If you modifiy the existing file then you should be ok, a delete and recreate won't do it. There was no admin function to trigger a re-open of the intro specifically. The only other runtime mechanism (beside a reload) is a restarting of the stream.

Hi karl,
thank you for your notice.
Unfortunately it did not work, if I replaced the introfile with another (same file-name). There seems to be a caching-mechanism.
Even, when no connections are connected to the mountpoint with the intro-file, a new connection will get the "old" intro.
As soon as I HUP the icecast, the new intro file will be played.
If you do not have any further ideas for solving this without HUPPING, then i have to bite the bullet. _________________ Icecast 2.4.0 (debian)

The only caching is with the open file handle, maybe with libc as well. I'd need to check into the specifics of the intro to see if an admin command can be done to trigger it.
