Hi there,

i have a weird issue with icecast 2.4.

If clients connect to a working mp3-stream they somtimes only get a few bytes (< 1 KB) and there is no playback. A correspondig log-entry in access.log would be:

[14/Mar/2016:10:57:03 +0000] "GET /xxxxxxxxx/live_de_128.mp3 HTTP/1.0" 200 251 "-" "WinampMPEG/5.66, Ultravox/2.1" 0

If I reconnect on the same server a few seconds later everythings works fine again:

[14/Mar/2016:11:03:31 +0000] "GET /xxxxxxxxx/live_de_128.mp3 HTTP/1.0" 200 6781931 "-" "WinampMPEG/5.66, Ultravox/2.1" 383

This issue occurs by opening the stream in browsers (Chrome, firefox, IE...) and in players (Winamp, VLC,...). Even when I do a wget I see the same weird behavior.

I do not see any errors in errorlog (in debug-mode) and the system is under low resource consumption (load avg 0.01, network load < 1 MbiT/s).

I also tried to re-install on a different system but, the issue re-occured.

Does anyone have a hint, how to debug this in icecast or what would cause the issue?
Is there any possibility to check, why icecast only delivers some bytes in some cases?

I am hoping for any hints.

Best regards and many thanks for your thoughts

Johnny

find out which end drops the link, icecast usually reports a reason if it decides to do that, eg client fallen too far behind.
