Hi,
I'm using Icecast to stream the sound output of my notebook over wireless LAN to a computer connected to my stereo. I'm using oddcast as source client an my windows notebook and MPD as streaming client. Everything worked fine, but there was a lag of about 4 seconds between my notebook and the actual sound output. So I set the buffer size of MPD and the burst size of icecast both to 0, this reduced the latency to 2 seconds. But this is still too mutch to e.g. watch movies.
I guess the remaining latency is caused by the encoding / decoding process on source and client computer.
So what is the best codec and how do I have to configure it in order to achieve minimal latency of the stream? Compression rate doesn't matter, I only want to stream over a 54 Mbit WLAN, so that should not be the problem.
Thanks in advance,
