I also use Icecast in our Radio Station to monitor the audio that goes to the listeners when having a live transmition outside the studio. The delay turns out to big a big problem in such situation cause we gotta sinc the studio`s voice to the live reporter`s voice. How can I have the least delay possible? I had already turn off the pre-buffer in winamp (witch I use to monitor the radio) and set up the burst-on-connect to 0 but I still got some latency. Can I improve the response or is this the faster I`ll ever get?

The actual setting that control the lag in icecast is burst-size, the burst-on-connect is just an alias for either 0 or 64k. I don't know the lowest setting winamp has for prebuffer, but those are the 2 settings that will effect you situation. Whether it's enough for your situation I can't say because icecast is not meant to be low latency.
