I have placed mp3 files in webroot ..... can u tell me the structure of a m3u file and how to access it from the player... and how icecast will start broadcasting....
****Icecast is working when i request for a file which is in webroot... but i want icecast as a broadcaster... which broadcasts a set of playlists and whenever user makes a request for the playlist he should be connected to the ongoing broadcast ...
Please tell me if u know how to do this |

You have to be clear on what you want, downloading files via web root is triggerred when a listener requests the content. content that is played no matter if 0 or more listeners are receiving it requires a source client.

hi Mr. karl
I want icecast sever to play a plylist which has few number of songs, sever should play the file without any request from the client, as soon as server is started.
And whenever user requests for that playlist, he should be connected to the point of stream not to the beginning of the playlist.
I want a typical broadcast to work in icecast... like a radio tuning... what extra tools i need for this...
Can you explain me clearly |

so you want a source client, start it after icecast is started and then your listeners connect to the stream it creates. All you have to decide is which source client is suitable for you. For mp3, something like ezstream or ices 0 could be suitable, maybe even oddcast.

check the details on the /status.xsl page first. Try other players as well just to rule out an installation issue. I can't access the url from here.

RealPlayer should come with an mp3 plugin, helix may not. Does your realplayer work with other mp3 streams?

ya..its playing.... if i request for a mp3 file from an icecast server using real player , it is playing the file but not the mountpoint i.e. broadcasted stream... its giving error as illeagle download format..... what does it means???? whether real player downloads the mp3 file befor playing ????
If so then streaming of song fails here!!!
