Hi All,

I'm trying to setup Icecast 2.3.1 on a WinXp Home computer, and its kicking my butt.

There is currently no firewall setup, and I connected this computer directly into the cablemodem, so I know its not a routing issue.

The config file that I am using runs perfect on a W2K Pro, and a WinXp Pro box. Is there something funny with a Home OS?

The account running Icecast has Admin rights....

Is anyone using Home to run Icecast?? Does it even work for this OS??
Do I need to go out and upgrade to Pro?? (The 2 PC's with Pro are work related, so I don't have the Disks)

Thanks

It sounds like you had an IP cpnnection issue, even using a browser to view the status page is this correct? A 127.0.0.1 reference should work if nothing else.

karl.

I can connect 127.0.0.1:8080 just fine.

If I setup the Home box into a router, I'm able to hit the Home box local lan.

Now, at the current time, there are no mount points. I am just trying to see if Icecast will show status screen on 8080. My next step of troubleshooting is to run in safe mode, as admin, and current user, and see if Icecast will talk to the outside world.

Its got to be something with the Home OS, since the config is working on two other boxes. Its the same config file!!

Icecast is setup as a windows service also.

Maybe a max connection issue - win xp home has a maximum of 10 connections to one machine. just a thought.

Damn port 8080.
It was the only difference, and its what killed me.

I was running 8000 fine, and 8005 fine.
Switch to 8080, and get crushed.
