Ok I have an icecast server set up on windows using ezstream and its working fine. but when I play the stream, after the first song finishes, the stream stops or pauses or something. so then I have press the play button and it starts playing again. why does it stop playing after each song? I tried this on both Winows Media Player and winAmp and it does the same thing. And suggestions?

O yah one thing that I dont do or at least I dont think I am doing is sending a constant bit rate of say 128 (resampling the file - is that the appropriate term?) I play the mp3 directly using an m3u playlist. Some of my mp3's may be constructed for 128 others may be 256 and so on. could this be the reason?

wmp is a poor choice for an mp3 player, the changes in bitrate will probably confuse it just like VBR mp3 stream do. winamp in general is ok for VBR but significant changes like samplerate/channels may pose a problem, large bitrate changes may have an effect on the buffering. Isolate the problem first, is it purely a player issue or does the stream disappear as well.

Well the stream is working fine. It doesn't disapear or anything. Is there anything that a person could do to fix it so that it doesn't do this? I'm assuming maybe resampling the file(s) to a constant bit rate. b/c right now I'm assuming that I am just streaming the songs through. But I could be wrong.

You could always talk to MS about wmp, they are always commenting on the fact that they fix stuff based on the feedback they get. Failing that, re-encoding to a constant bitrate is your best option.
