|
|
I've been searching and read tons and tons of tutorials but I still don't understand it...
So far I have:
uploaded icecast-2.3.1.tar.gz
extracted it with a SSH command
typed "yum install icecast"
Now from there I do not know if the install is completed or not. Can someone how me steps on how to check if it is installed and futher steps to get the icecast server up and running. Im very new to running servers and i've only been running a VPS since yesterday evening. Any help will be very greatful!! |

you will, because icecast is not meant to run as root, it doesn't require that level of security.

There's little to go on here. Usually people just run icecast as non-root accounts, and that is all there is to it. You can start it as root and then use <changeowner> to switch to another user, but without knowing what you have done it's hard to say why it isn't working.
