|
|
I implement a few live feeds via Icecast that have password protection to ensure only the authorised people are able to listen in.
But no matter which mountpoint people listen to, the http authentication realm name is always "Icecast2 Server".
It would be very handy to make that configurable inside the <MOUNT> section of the config file.
something like
<REALM>Live conference #2</REALM>
What do people think? |

This is something I've already added in my branch work, but I haven't heard any feedback on this to know whether it's working out ok for people.
The actual setting I've used is defined in <authentication ....>
<option name="realm">Live conference #2</option>

Great.
Seems to work aOK when used like this:
Code: |
<authentication type="url">
<option name="realm" value="test"/>
|
and NOT like this
Code: |
<authentication type="url">
<option name="realm">test</option>
|
Ill give it a few more live tests tomorrow and report back.
Excellent |

I'm glad to report after 24 hours and about 650 connections later , the realms options seems to be working ok.
The enduser reported no problems and was happy to have their streams slightly more "branded".
BIG Thumbs up from us.
I'll give you another heads up when we get to 3000 connection or so.
Thanks again.

Hi, i'm trying to receive another response from http authentication dialog. I think that that i need is the realm option, but i can't make it work.
I put the option name=realm tag inside the authentication type="url", but nothing change. I tried both type of write the option tag.
Code: |
<authentication type="url">
<option name="realm" value="the fly on the wall radio"/>
<option name="listener_add" value="http://myip/icesauth/action.php"/>
<option name="listener_remove" value="http://myip/icesauth/action.php"/>
</authentication> |
Wich could br the problem here?
Thanks in advance |

Currently the HTTP authentication realm in icecast is hard-coded to "Icecast2 Server".
It's not configurable. Sorry about that.
