Unfortunately, I've had nothing but trouble trying to get libshout to compile on a Windows (XP) machine with both Visual Studio 6 and Visual Studio .NET 2003. My original plan was to make a change to ezstream 0.4.0 to allow Windows users the runtime control that is available to Linux users via kill signals.

I've gone to a few forums where programmers hang out, but no one has been able to give me an answer as to why the code does not compile for me. I have very little experience with C/C++ programming (I tried to teach myself and took a class in college, but the majority of my work has been in Visual Basic since it gets the job done quicker, so I have largely forgotten everything I knew on C/C++ programming). This leads me to one of two conclusions:

Either A: I somehow manage to get libshout and ezstream to compile properly...

Or B: I recreate libshout using VB.NET and make a new source client to use it.

Obviously, option A seems to be the more logical route, but option B is better for my programming strengths and has the potential to open the field to more programmers.

This is a crazy amount of work just to be able to skip songs in a playlist.

Anyone want to help me achieve either option?
