a small warning ... Dont download his prodject and untar it,,, it's not even tared in its own catalog and will unpack among all your other files and when you read the instructions you soon understand its nothing you will even try to use.

Anyone got serious suggestion ?

I'm sorry you didn't like it, but many people are using it and seem to like it very much. I'd be happy to help you get tunequeue working on your site if you change your mind.

Dude, this is open source... the power is in the feedback loop between user & developer. Don't just tell the guy is sucks, he's given you something for free and you're just pissing on it. Find a way to relate what you think the deficiencies are and the developer will either listen to you or ignore you.

Learn some manners.

Thanks Evil, you're right and I am more than happy to improve my project to make it more useable for others if they bring problems to my attention.

For example, this is the first complaint I've heard about the layout of the tar file, but it does seem reasonable to expect a tarball to unpack into a sub directory these days. I've already replaced the download on sourceforge with a file that does exactly this.

Despite the dissapointing attitude of the original poster, he has helped me improve the project by calling attention to something I missed. Open source is a beautiful thing even when the players get a little ugly Smile

Sorry , but I got kinda pissed when I tar -zxvf and noticed all the files spread out among my other files.

Something like that I havent seen in many years and I guess iam used to a cerrain standard of opensource prodjects.

Yeah, I can see that... i mean, a guy works on a project for literally hundreds of hours, then takes the time to respond to your request for help, gives it to you for free and offers to help you use it. But it isn't packaged the way you expect, causing you to have to find a total of 10 files/folders by hand... i mean... I think it's clear what a dick I am.

You were totally right to tell everyone else what a hunk of crap my work is, and how it isn't up to "cerrrain" standards that you expect from "prodjects". I'll try harder next time, I mean, its been such an inspiration and a reward to hear from you. I can see why people work so hard on open source projects.

You seriously need to check yourself.

Hi,

You are correct that there is no tutorial and the documentation is not very good at all. Making tunequeue easily installable for everyone is one of my goals, but I readily admit it is not one that I've come even close to accomplishing. Anyone want to get involved in a cool open source project ?? Smile

This is one of the reasons we are still in the 0.0x release numbers even though the software is actually quite capable and stable. There is a thread on our sourceforge message board where I've walked a user through the entire process though, and a few ppl have told me this was enough to get them running, or mostly at least.

I am always happy to help you get the software running if you want to try it. If you have had a hard time getting ices2/icecast running, then you might find tunequeue frustrating.. icecast has great docs and is pretty straightforward to install. tunequeue is not so great in that department, and it also depends on correctly working mysql, perl DBI and apache installation.

I saw a install text file , I will take my courage and do what it is write. Concerning apache, mysql etc... I am ok !
The probleme I face was more to find where are files and how to start the app. You know i am working on linux with a windows expectation. I click install , ok , ok and then I find the app in my menu ! Then I configure it with a menu etc...
For Icecast, I needed to change a config file. Tomorrow I will make my first step.
You know before I tryed mediabox404 and I am not finish I faced many obstacles. Then I try livesupport but I did not succes to listen anything !

Ok, well good luck and send me any questions you have. I have to say honestly that if your background is in windows then you might want to wait until tunequeue is a little more mature, it is a long way from something where you could "click install".

Actually, there isn't any installer at all. You'll have to copy some files around and edit both a text file and manually enter some sql data to get it working. These are easy tasks for a linux sys admin, but most windows guys are probably going to get frustrated pretty quick. On the plus side, if you manage to get it working, you'll have learned some good stuff Smile

I already try to install it. I am not finish and have no perl background.
The problème is that I start many things and do not finish. I stop ! when I face problèmes.

Ices2 ok seems working
Ices0 is not working ! I don't know why
ezstream : I cannot install it
liveice : seems working but I cannot see the mount on the icecast2 page
I will try shoutcast for my mp3 stream mayby I will have more chance !

Aaron, just want to hand it to you, great that people are working on interfaces to these things. Too bad that I cannot use your software, perl and cgi-bin, it's jus' not the things for me.

I'm looking for a PHPbased interface (+MySQL if needed) just so I can change which song that is currently playing. What I'm using is ices0.4 and icecast, please, anyone got any tips?

Cheers!

I thought I'd resurrect this as I'm looking for the exact same thing. I had no idea any php-based front-ends existed so I had just started a day or two ago making my own.

So far I've worked on some process management code (to ensure icecast and ezstream are running, can be restarted, started, stopped, etc., admin functions obviously), and some rough work to catalogue and maintain a music library in mysql that you can pull from.

If anyone is interested I'd be glad to post code or set up a CVS. I'm great with algorithms but organizing code and user interfaces aren't my forté.
