Icecast Streaming Media Server

i use icecast in a linux vserver (i manage also the host) everything runs fine for about 5 to 10 minutes but after that no connections are possible, the web-frontent and everything hangs while error.log shows nothing special, only debugs. I have to kill icecast with killall -s 9 as it does not respond to a simple kill ...

i use listener authentication (it works). But this hangig is really anoying as i cannot find the reason .. any help is really appreciated.

another attempt - this time after running only three minutes, all icecast processes are just gone. The Moderator that i asked to stream said it was here fault because she wanted to fast-forward with her winamp, that shutdown at the same time. But killing the whole server ... that is something that shouldn't happen regardless of winamps ehm, specialities

First thing to note is, what exactly is 2.3.1-r1. Is it a release candidate or something they've patched? I'm not aware of any patches made by the gentoo people.

A couple of people have had some issues with vservers but I don't know oif there is any pattern yet, some have reported high CPU usage. If it really is a stalled icecast (ie it blocks but still shows as a process) then use kill with -SEGV and send me the stack trace from the core file.

Well i don't think the gentoo people extensivly patched icecast and made a release candidate thierselfes - i read something about a version 2.3.1.1 - don't know. They should maybe use the official release-numbers whatever ..

I compiled the latest version from SVN this night and this is stable - no Problems so far with multiple sources and listeners. I think my Issue is solved then

But Nevertheless what do you mean with core file? Kill with -SEGV creates the stack trace? Never did that

if the current svn is working better for you then great. The kill I mentioned is a mechanism to stop icecast and create a core file which indicates what all the threads are doing. In the case of a stalled icecast then it's probably a lock but we'll have to see.
