i'm currently using redhat 9 yah I know thats my problem but its what I have...
I have
libshout-2.2-1.0.rh9.rf.i386.rpm
and
libshout-devel-2.2-1.0.rh9.rf.i386.rpm |

After compiling and installing libshout
make certain the path /usr/local/lib is included in your
/etc/ld.so.conf file.
if not edit the file and place /usr/local/lib in this file.
then run the ldconfig command as root.
other option is try to find where the library is installed
find / -name "libshout*" -print
Output will tell you where the library resides. Then modify the above file as mentioned. |

I needed theora installed for pkg-config to find libshout
for what thats worth |
