Hi Karl,

We know u have answered this question hundreds of times but we cannot seem to get Icecast to work for us..

We have read up an all the info that we can find and still it wont work for us, all the info that we have gathered leaves us thinking that there is something missing. Like the lost screw...

Do u have a manual that is written in layman's terms that we can read and understand..?

Most of the info that we have found pertains to Linux.. We are not Linux people.. and really don't want to install Linux just for Icecast.

We have visited this page but we have figured out that the writer was using and made references to Linux, with little references to Windows.
http://www.gnuware.com/icecast/

We hope to use Sam 2, Icecast & Winamp.

We have d/loaded all the parts required but still can't get them to match up.

So if u can help us..
We would be greatly appreciative.

Dougieee Very Happy

There are other people beside myself that can help, the key is having a good description of the problem you are experiencing and collecting any related useful information, typically from the icecast log files.

For the most part icecast on windows is no different on linux, paths are different and a few options may be disabled like chroot but that's it.

First step is focus on getting icecast running, query the status page with a browser, then get sam configured.

Thks for ur quick reply Karl.

We have not been able to get this thing running on Windows.. We did an experiment and got it running on Linux.. Not a problem with it.. Loaded real quick.. But on Windows.. notso good luck..

Pls check this and tell me where we have gone wrong...

We believe that Sam 3 will not run on Linux so we really need to get this running on Windows. .. or alternately, have a seperate pc to run Linux..
One for Sam3 on XP and one for Linux..

Thanks in advance for your help..

The xml looks to be mainly comments, the only thing I see wrong (but not showstoppers) is hostname is not localhost usually and queue-size looks a bit small (try 500k).

I gather that icecast is installed on windows, so I can only think that the only thing stopping icecast from running is something else running on port 8000

I agree with Karl's suggestion about the port being in use.

If you need detailed help with Windows / Icecast; I've done quite a lot of it.

Let me know if you continue to have problems.

for icecast you need at least <sources> set to 2 along with a suitable high number of <clients>. For sam specifics you are probably best asking on the spacialaudio forums but at some point you will need 2 encodings each one with a mountpoint that is used with icecast.
