Running Debian linux with Icecast 2.3.1 and oddcast 3.0.x, along with jackd (from apt-get). Other two things were compiled.

Everything works when first run:

oddcastv3 -c oddcast_LAME.cfg -p moo
jackd -v -d oss -i 0 -o 2
icecast -c icecast.xml.dist -b

I would like to have a 'random' script play mp3s via mplayer, but when someone wants to talk on air, a simple script would let mplayer finish the current song and then exit. Then when the person is done taking, they can start mplayer up again (all without interuppting the stream)

We want to use jack for reasons too lengthy to go into here.

The problem is that when mplayer quits, if you start it back up you don't hear anything on the stream. You have to restart oddcast (which kills the stream!).

I've tried darkice, but the stream was just dead air. (device = jack )

Does anyone know a way around this? Should I use something other than oddcast?

Any help would be appreciated.
