| So i setup a server with 2 mounts /stream and /default - /default is ALWAYS playing something via icegenerator from another server. /default is set as the fallback in the configureation. When we have a live show they broadcast to /stream and everything works pretty much except the users already connected when the switch happens dont get switched over, they just stop hearing music.... now the /default is playing at 128k and the live stream was at 24k -- does that matter? they were both MP3 broadcasts. |

Ok so i tried it with both streams going at 128K and it worked flawlessly though the 128k live stream was choppy as hell lol!
Is there any chance this will work in the future or is it a player independant issue? |

wrt icecast, listeners can be moved from one mountpoint to another as long as the format is the same however don't expect players to allow changes in samplerate and channels midstream, many cannot handle it, also some like wmp don't handle changes in bitrate either so VBR mp3 streams are out as well.
